Labour leader Habibuddin Junaidee on Wednesday said that it would be in the larger interest of political peace and tranquillity in the country to ensure proper inquiry into the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
Talking to Business Recorder, he said that during his recent visit to Larkana he could see people controlling their emotions in the hope of receiving a trustworthy report of the December 27 incident. He said that correct report should be acceptable to the government as well as to all political parties.
There should be no ill feeling between the government and the PPP if the findings of the visiting investigation team from abroad presented a different version than that of the government. Facts would be in the interest of peaceful transition from semi-democratic rule to completely democratic rule in the country, he added.
He said that the political parties, labour parties, human right activists, lawyers' community and the civil society should take notice of the development following assassination and come out with appropriate suggestion to improve the situation.
He said that the entire labour community of Pakistan was grieved and would remain in the mourning for 40 days. He said that there should be greater emphasis on the philosophy on which Benazir was working and the following should be united and with commitment to carry her mission forward.
