Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister former Justice Abdul Qadir Halepota has stressed the need for taking advantage of modern technology as in developed countries to curb crimes in Pakistan and specially in Sindh.
In a briefing by Nadra regarding driving licence and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) at Chief Minister House, Justice Halepota said a crime database is essential for the entire country.
He said there is imperative need to control crimes in Karachi and particularly vehicles crime control and monitoring. He noted that such crimes could be eliminated to a great extent with the help of modern technology.
He described Nadra's initiative to introduce vehicle monitoring and identification system a good step forward and observed that world over vehicle crimes are being controlled successfully with this system. Chairman Nadra, Brigadier Saleem Moeen (Retd) gave a detailed briefing to the meeting participants regarding this system and said it will prove greatly helpful in controlling crimes like theft of vehicles.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister directed that a database of driving licence should also be prepared. The meeting was attended by Caretaker Ministers Brigadier Akhtar Zamin (Retd), Dewan Mohammed Yousuf Farooqui, Dr Karim Mahar, Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman, DG Rangers and other concerned officials.
