Principal Officer of American Consulate in Lahore, Bryan D Hunt met the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President, Mian Shahbaz Sharif here on Monday and discussed various matters particularly those concerning the February 18 polls.
According to the PML-N sources, Shahbaz apprised the US diplomat about his party's apprehensions with regard to fairness of coming elections. He also urged the US diplomat to play its role for independence of judiciary including Election Commission of Pakistan, which is a pre-requisite for holding free, fair and impartial elections in the country.
The US diplomat, according to sources, told the PML-N head that the US want free and transparent elections in the country and would continue to play its due role in this regard.
