The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has restarted a teachers' training programme for private educational institutions, Managing Director Dr Allah Baksh Malik said. He said while talking to All Pakistan Private Schools Welfare Association (APPSWA)'s President Syed Zulqarnain Shah on Tuesday.
He added that more districts would be included in the Foundation Assisted School (FAS) Programme from April this year and the Punjab government would accord its approval soon.
Zulqarnain said the teachers' training programme was a useful initiative but was forced to stop because of blackmailing of some elements. He demanded that the programme should be extended to other districts.
Dr Malik lauded the role of association, saying this representative organisation was working to uplift private educational institutions. He told the association president that teachers training programme was stopped because of litigation and negative attitude of some non-serious elements. He announced to raise the number of vouchers from 5,000 to 10,000 and promised to rise further up to 20,000 within few months. He also said the PEF would arrange the foreign tours for the students of affiliated private schools so that young generation of the country could get modern education.
