The German Consul General, Hans-Joachim Kiderlen, called on caretaker Sindh Chief Minister, former Justice Abdul Qadir Halepota at Chief Minister House and discussed matters of mutual interest and pre-election scenario.
The Chief Minister explained at length the steps taken at every level to ensure that the process safeguards the interests of every political party on equal footing. He gave a detailed account of measures being taken to see that polling takes place without any fear and every voter will have the right to exercise his right of vote freely.
The Chief Minister pointed out that that Election Commission is completely independent. He said that strict security will be maintained throughout the province by police and rangers with backup support from the Army.
The Consul General appreciated the measures being taken by the caretaker set-up in Sindh for ensuring free, fair and peaceful elections. He informed that some 60 observers from EU countries have already arrived in the country out of which 25 will be deployed in Sindh to monitor the election process.
