Chairman Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Distributors' Association, Abdul Hadi Khan has said that price of LPG is still stable in the market. In a Press Release issued here on Wednesday, he said that marketing companies and LPG agents were spreading wrong information about the LPG prices and refused that it was hiked upto Rs 120 to 150 per kg.
"Gas is being supplied at Rs 65 to 70 per kg in urban and Rs 75 to 80 at rural areas," he added. He accepted that the production of LPG has reduced by 15.5 percent and 1,350 tonnes of LPG is being produced per day only.
Hadi apprised that due to cold weather, its consumption was 2,100 to 2,150 metric tonnes per day. However, the difference between supply and demand was raised upto 800 to 850 metric tonnes.
He said that due to the difference between demand and supply, marketing companies have hoarded LPG, aimed at increasing its prices to earn more profit. Hence, LPG was being supplied in a limited way to distributors, which created immense problems in facilitating the customers, he added.
He also rejected the rumours of LPG smuggling to neighbouring country and said that Afghanistan was fulfilling its domestic demand from Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan at cheaper rates than Pakistan. Hadi stressed upon the LPG producing companies to increase the production of gas to eliminate instability in the demand and supply.-PR
