The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will publish world's first monograph entitled "Urdu Research in Universities" under its Monograph and Textbook Writing Scheme. The monograph mainly includes a bibliographical list of topics in which Master, MPhil and PhD degrees in Urdu literature and language have been conferred by the 81 universities of the world.
This milestone achievement is authored by the HEC's eminent Professor Dr Rafiuddin Hashmi and will be published by the HEC within this year. This will be the first publication in the world of this nature having bibliographical list of 4,374 entries. The foreword of the book has been written by the well-known literary figure, Dr Jamil Jalbi who is also a former vice-chancellor of Karachi University and former chairman, National Language Authority.
This bibliographical edition will inform the researchers about the topics that are already covered and which topics can be explored during their research for degrees.
Similarly, its bibliographical list and the indexing will also serve as a reference material for students of MPhil and PhD in search of new topics and the originality of topics may also be endorsed through this publication.
It will go a long away in promoting Urdu language and literature in the country and our universities will be able to chalk out new and better strategies for the students of the discipline. The published copies of this monograph will be available in a couple of months from the HEC secretariat, Islamabad.
