Army was called out in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal and Okara on Friday for the assistance of civil administration, police and other law enforcing agencies and a Quick-action Force (QAF) of army would be able to take any action in case of any eventuality, says Inter-services Press Release.
More police personnel had been deployed in Multan city on Friday in the wake of Peshawar bomb blast on Thursday, said SSP (operation) Muhammad Nawaz Waraich. The number of police personnel had been increased at sensitive places including Imambarghas, Airport, Railway Station, Churches, Mosques, and Mausoleums of spiritual leaders.
He said that important buildings, bus, van stands, hotels, parking lots and residences of foreigners have been declared sensitive places. Fire brigade, civil defence, bomb disposal squad and emergency wards of hospitals have been put on high alert.
Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer Multan, Mirza Muhammad Ali has directed police officials to tighten security in the region especially in Multan following Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar bomb blasts. The RPO has told all District police officers and SPs, SDPOs to take special measures to cope with any untoward situation.
He had directed officials to deploy plainclothesmen at bus stops, markets, cinemas, hotels and business and entertainment centres across the province. He also directed officials to pay special attention to the security at mosques and Madaris.
