The Rescue 1122 provided medical first aid to over 4000 mourners during the 9th and 10th of Muharram in Punjab and its rescuers and ambulances remained busy during two days of mourning. Spokesman of the Emergency Service told reporters on Tuesday that their rescuers provided first aid to 3964 injured mourners and hospitalised 80 others in serious condition.
Medical cover was provided to mourning precisionists in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan and Sahiwal. Rescue 1122 in Rawalpindi provided first aid to 409 injured mourners and hospitalised three in serious condition to District Headquarters and Rawalpindi General Hospital.
Over 400 rescuers equipped with medical kits, 14 emergency ambulances, 5 fire vehicles and one rescue vehicle with 10 mobile rescue posts and 4 relief camps provided complete medical cover to different mourning processions, he said.
Mourners who sustained injuries owing to flagellate were provided with stitching, dressing and appropriate medications by trained emergency officers, while three injured mourners having severe injuries and deep cuts were shifted to District Headquarters and Rawalpindi General Hospitals after provision of first aid.
Rescue posts were established in Federal Government Girls Sir Syed School Saddar, Iqbal Road near Imam Bargah Colonel Maqbool (Committee Chowk), Banni P.S Asghar Mall Road near Qaddimi Baltistani Imam Bargah, Misrial Road near Imam Bargha Qaser-e-Shabbir, MughalAbad Road near Imam Bargah Qasr-e-Abutalib, Liaqat Road near Fowara Chowk, Faizabad Flyover, Chorh Chowk, Sadiqabad, Muslim Town near Shakriyal Imam Bargah, and four Relief Camps were also established at Banni Chowk, Fowara Chowk, Qaddimi Baltistani Imam Bargah and Committee Chowk.
