The Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) has organised a computer-aided jewellery designing course at Karachi Tools Dies & Mould Centre (KTDMC) in Korangi industrial area, Karachi.
The course being conducted by Malik Farhan Hussain, a graduate in Mechatronics from UET Lahore with 25 participants from the field, started from January 22 would continue till February 4. It would provide a guideline to improve the skill of computerised jewellery designing.
It would share the components involved in the process of designing from beginning of a job to working with database, creating 2d designs, creating 3D objects from 2D objects, creating loops for pendants, creating rings, completing the menus and different tips and tricks.
The objective is to upgrade the skills of jewellery designers by imparting knowledge about developments and techniques currently being applied world-wide. This will help the participants improving the quality of products and establishing Pakistan as a hub of quality gemstone and jewellery.
The PGJDC, keeping in view the demand from the industry, decided to organise this two-week course in Karachi. The Chief Executive Officer, PGJDC, Fawwad Khan while addressing the participants emphasised the need of adopting new trends and technology in jewellery designing in order to promote Pakistani jewellery in the international markets.
He said gems and jewellery industry needs revolutionary changes in its thinking and business processes and urged the participants to incorporate themselves with the growing needs and demands of the industry so that their designs are internationally competitive.-PR
