The Lahore High Court has suspended the operation of show-cause notices issued to 26 police constables by the department and directed the department to file its reply by February 06.
The constables through their counsel MD Tahir submitted that they were appointed in 2004 among 78 constables. They had been serving as guards with VIPs as well as in different police stations as per directions of the department. They said they were not given training as mechanics for which they were appointed.
On November 24 last the department issued a show cause notice after taking their tests. They alleged that some of the police officers wanted to get their favourites appointed by removing them and prayed to the court to restrain the respondents from terminating them from their services.
