Aslam Sindhu has won Punjab Bar Council (PBC)'s elections and become vice chairman of the council by defeating Saeed Bhutta. Intikhab Hussain Shah became the Executive Committee chairman by defeating Khuram Latife Khosa. Sindhu won 57 votes out of 75 while Bhutta received only 18. Hussain obtained 48 votes and Khurram Khosa 27.
Speaking to bar members Sindhu said that he was determined to carry on his struggle to restore pre-emergency judicial set up, adding that other provincial bars had already told the council to rethink its decision allowing lawyers to appear before the judges who had taken oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO). He also warned the lawyers that the council would take action against those lawyers who violated the decision.
