Development work on the emergency centre 1122 being established in the centre of the city is in full swing. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Sunday that the centre, equipped with 10 ambulances and highly trained staff would cost Rs16.50 crore.
Sources said that the government had allocated sufficient funds for expanding the sphere of emergency services at district and tehsil headquarters level aimed at providing speedy services to the masses living in rural and urban areas of Punjab. Besides, the establishment of 'Cardiology centres' in mega cities was also under consideration of the government for extending modern treatment facilities to the patients in their respective areas, sources added.
Similarly, necessary steps were being taken for the establishment of 'Burn Units' in all district headquarter hospitals while special attention had been accorded on the improvement of emergency services in all government-controlled hospitals of Punjab, the sources said.
They said that the step was being taken for providing immediate medical treatment to the burned persons at their doorstep and work on this project would be undertaken shortly. Apart from this, special step had been taken for the activation of rural health centres and basic health units functioning in the province, sources added.
