Telenor Pakistan has launched the softswitch solution from Nokia Siemens Networks, bringing more flexibility and efficiency to its network along with the capability for offering high end services to its customers.
Nokia Siemens Networks has successfully introduced the Release 4 softswitch to evolve the Telenor Pakistan network and provide greater abilities in meeting the mobile volume demand.
This will allow Telenor Pakistan to reduce its operating expenditure; as calls will not need to be carried back to central locations and can be handed over to the other operator networks remotely, resulting in substantial savings on leased circuits.
Chief Technical Officer Telenor Pakistan Peter Anthony Dindial said; "Telenor Pakistan has recently announced reaching 15 million customers within less than 3 years of operation and is the fastest growing network in the country. This technological advancement supported by Nokia Siemens Networks will not only enable Telenor Pakistan to be among the front runners in the telecom industry world-wide, but will also open horizons for many advanced technologies like 3G & IMS.
It will also reduce operational cost and will provide gains in capital efficiency. This is the right step at the right time to gear up for meeting the ever increasing customer demands." Nokia Siemens Networks has been the supplier of the core network for Telenor Pakistan since they launched cellular services in March, 2005. The leading Network provider currently has close to 100 live networks around the world serving 400 million subscribers, making it the world's most widely deployed Release 4 solution.
Country Director Nokia Siemens Networks Pakistan and Afghanistan Veqar ul Islam said, "Nokia Siemens Networks is committed to providing cost effective solutions to telecom providers that will enable them to better utilise network resources, reduce costs and offer state-of-the-art services to their customers." "Telenor Pakistan operates a large GSM mobile network in Pakistan.
Efficiency and reliability are critical to maintaining optimum performance. Our Release 4 compliant MSC Server System will support GSM, WCDMA and TD-SCDMA services, as well as future network architectures, making it the ideal network platform for today and tomorrow" added Veqar.-PR
