Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Sunday organised protest demonstration against the assassination of its chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, and reiterated party's demand for a UN-sponsored probe into her killing instead of, what it said, the bogus investigation by the Pakistani authorities.
PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on December 27 in a gun shoot followed by suicide explosion at the historical Liaquat Bagh on December 27 and the incident plunged the country into multiple crisis including postponement of elections which was previously scheduled for January 8.
The PPP has been demanding of the government to conduct the inquiry through United Nations. But, neither the government of Pakistan and nor the UN had taken any initiative to fulfil the demand.
On Sunday, PPP women wing organised a protest rally at Aabpara chowk, where a significant number of PPP activists gathered, who were hoisting black flags instead of party flags in a protest against the murder of its chairperson. The protesters were also carrying banners, placards, portrays of Benazir Bhutto, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Bilal Bhutto Zardari and Asif Zardari.
The emotional party die-hards chanted slogans against Musharraf, Chaudhries of Gujarat and PML-Q, terming them 'Qatils' killers.
They activists also chanted that the blood of Benazir would bring a revolution in the country and the party again would rule the country under the newly appointed chairperson Bilal Bhutto Zardari.
Addressing the rally, Nargis Faiz Malik, chief of PPP Islamabad chapter accused the government of killing Benazir Bhutto, saying that party would not accept the 'bogus' inquiry of the government, demanding that it should be carried out through United Nations.
She blamed the government that even 30 days after the murder of their leader, it failed to apprehend the killers of a leader of an international stature.
She demanded that the probe of this incident should be conducted by United Nations instead of the Pakistan authorities. She said that people of Pakistan would take revenge of the Benazir's murder by casting vote to PPP on February 18.
Nargis said PPP would bring revolution in the leadership of new chairperson Bilal Bhutto Zardari and Asif Zardari and February 18 would be the day of revolution for the nation.
PPP leader from Rawalpindi Qazi Sultan said that PPP would itself conduct inquiry into Benazir's murder after coming to power on February 18. He also warned the rulers of serious consequences if polls were rigged.
