Comstech concluded its eight-day workshop on bio-fertiliser on Monday with a resolution that OIC countries should build database relating to experiences in bio-fertiliser applications and share the results with member countries.
The speakers, Abdul Sattar, and Shamsuddoha, Associate Professors from Sher-e-Bangla University, Dhaka informed Business Recorder that the participants of the workshop were enlightened by the reports from the countries where the low-cost technology had been used.
On the basis of the country reports, the workshop also recommended that experts from participating countries should prepare viable projects and explore Comstech's finances to implement the technology individually in member countries.
It also showed concern over the alarming food scarcity in the Muslim countries in view of the minimal water resources feared that the crisis would assume greater volume in future. Additionally, a resolution was passed to hold an annual workshop on the subject.
While drawing attention to the recent statement of the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon that the water shortage has threatened the world, the speakers said OIC countries should exploit their existing water resources judiciously for increasing food production that may help them overcoming the food crisis.
