Progress of our society demands drastic changes in the education system that must lay emphasis on acquisition of knowledge and expertise in all areas of arts, physical as well as social sciences and novel technologies.
Sindh Minister for Education, Shujaat Ali Baig said this while addressing the launching ceremony of 'Graduate Profile 2007' and website of the Department of Public Administration, University of Karachi, here in a local hotel.
The minister urged the need of 'focused efforts' on promoting education in rural areas of the country, as according to him, education especially technical education will help alleviate poverty and improve economic conditions in the society.
Addressing the ceremony, the vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Dr Pirzada Qasim said that the priority was assigned to the foreign faculty monitoring, capacity building and infrastructure development with the help of latest equipment and technology with a view to preparing knowledgeable young leadership to serve country and the nation.
He said that the Higher Education Commission was facilitating the universities with generous funds to promote research and development in arts and sciences. Dr Pirzada Qasim praised the efforts of the staff of the department for inspiring the youth graduates of their faculty to bring out such an impressive directory that, according to him, will help the corporate sector in selecting the dynamic young candidates for their management.-PR
