Patron of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that although President Pervaz Musharraf has announced to lift emergency, but the country is still under emergency rule as the chief justice and judges are under detention and are not restored.
"Without reinstatement of judges, no one is going to believe that emergency has been lifted in the country," PML-N leader said while addressing Lahore High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi Bench here on Friday.
He said that PML-N would mark February 6, as a day for restoration of democracy and freedom of judiciary. Every PML-N candidate contesting upcoming polls would take oath to pledging to work for the cause of freedom and reinstatement of judiciary of the country. He said that Musharraf by saying that West has become obsessed with democracy had insulted the democracy-loving people. Musharraf should know that people of Pakistan are suffering from democracy phobia and they would not take rest till complete restoration of the democracy and rule of law, he remarked.
"President Musharraf has made fun of entire country by saying that the nation does not deserve democracy and basic rights during his current European tour. This is utter insult of every Pakistani and Musharraf would be brought in court for these remarks", he said.
He said that if elections were conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner, the King's Party would be vanished from the political arena. The popularity graph of President Musharraf and Chudhary brothers went down so much so that the candidates of the so-called Muslim League even did not place their portraits on their electoral banners, he added. Nawaz Sharif reiterated his party resolve to not endorse the illegal and unconstitutional steps and emergency rule of President Musharraf after winning the elections.
