The family physicians should join hands with the government to help eliminate the menace of quackery from the country, Punjab Health Minister Aslam Humayun said. His comments came at the 18th Annual International Conference on Family Medicine organised by Pakistan Academy of Family Physicians here on Friday.
"The government is giving a top priority to modern healthcare and family physicians are the backbone of our healthcare delivery system since the majority has benefited from them," he added.
He said family physicians were also contributing in business activities at local level since they were creating jobs. He told family physicians to join hands with the government to eliminate the quackery and also adopt a reasonable professional audit system. He said that full legal cover would be provided to the physicians.
Humayun said steps were being taken to provide opportunities of continued Medical Education and inland and outland training facilities to physicians. He said cooperation would be extended to establish family physicians' institutions for higher study in their field.
The minister said special packages of salary and incentives were being given to doctors, nurses and paramedical staff so that services of experts and talented professionals could be used in and outside the country. The minister then distributed shields and medals among participants.
