The Punjab and Glasgow Universities have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote research and academic exchange through various activities of mutual interest. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran and his counterpart's representatives, Peter S Meadows and Dr Azra Meadows, signed the MoU on Friday.
Kamran said the MoU would benefit students and teachers of the Punjab University as well as the Glasgow University and it will promote the culture of research and learning, especially in Punjab University. He added mutual exchange visits between the teachers and students of both the universities will help produce a learned class in Pakistan from the Punjab University's platform.
Both universities will promote research and academic exchange through joint lectures and symposia and exchange of faculty and students, especially in fields of common interest, cooperation in teaching and research, exchange of information and materials, training leading to certificates, diploma, masters, Ph.D and post doctoral programmes, curriculum and course development, preparation of related materials, such as manuals, modules, capacity building programmes for faculty, non-teaching and technical staff and University of Glasgow will allow special discount in fees to PU students. Dr Meadows briefed the vice chancellor about the functioning and the vision of his Glasgow counterpart Sir Muir Russell.
From Punjab University, Professor Dr Najma Najam briefed the visiting delegates about the various departments and research journals of Punjab University and stressed on exploring more areas of mutual interest. PU Director External Linkages Professor Dr Najma Najam and Registrar Professor Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan were also present on the occasion.
