President Federal Commission for Assessment of Damages UAG Isani has said that only those claims of damages of moveable and immovable properties occurring as a result of the violent incidents from December 27 to December 31st 2007 following the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, would be entertained, which would base on solely individual losses.
He was presiding over a meeting of DCOs of those districts where such incidents of violence took place, here on Saturday. Among others who attended the meeting included Secretary Local Government, Secretary Home and Secretary Relief & Crisis.
Isani pointed out that it was necessary for the claim that it was filed in the same province where the incident occurred. However, if someone had suffered a loss in another province, he would file the claim with the DCO of that particular district since the DCO concerned would verify claim of the damages.
Following this confirmation the government would take action for compensation. He further said that the claims of burnt cars purchased through bank loan would not be entertained since those vehicles were already insured. Hence, the compensation of damages in such cases was the liability of the relevant insurance company. Meanwhile, he impressed upon the DCOs to forward the claims at the earliest so that the victims might be compensated as early as possible.
