Electioneering has gained the momentum in Sialkot district, with candidates for National and provincial assembly seats are holding corner meetings to gain the support of their respective constituents.
The printing, publishing and flex sign boards business is currently the biggest gainer in trickle down the benefits of massive publicity campaigns by political bigwigs taking part in upcoming polls scheduled be held on February 18th.
Besides, the publicity and advertisements of political parties have also been extended to local channels for winning the support of the people during the elections. The candidates contesting on National and Provincial seats along with the influential are visiting door-to-door for getting the support besides they are also exploiting the biradaries.
The workers belonging to various political parties are busy in hanging the huge flex banners, fixing of posters of the candidates in different localities of the district. The heart of the city Chowk Allama Iqbal has been decorated with huge banners and flexes belonging to different political parties.
The supporters of the candidates have decorated their vehicles with colourful posters of their candidates besides party flags and posters of the candidates are fixed on private pick-ups and wagons plying on different routes of Sialkot district.
Sialkot district consists of Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils while the tehsil wise population of Sialkot district is, Sialkot tehsil urban 439876 and 768568 rural, Sambrial tehsil urban 83546 and rural 214050, Daska tehsil urban 112212 and 493358 rural and tehsil Pasrur urban 76089 and 535782 rural while total population of the district is 272348 according to the census of 1998 which has now increased to more than 35 lakh. As many as 1475270 are registered voters of which 667241 are female voters in Sialkot district.
