The Chinioti furniture has been admired and liked all over the world as its workers are very skilful in craftsmanship. These views were expressed by Ambassador of Philippines in Pakistan Jaime Yambao while talking to business community at a reception hosted by Tehsil Nazim, Chiniot, Dr Shahid Hamid.
He said Chinioti furniture was colourful and mastery of carving work has no alternate in the world. He said three cities of Philippines including Cebu, Batis and Pampanga are famous for furniture but Chiniot has unique features from them.
The reception was also addressed by other ambassadors including Abdul Jalil Ahmad, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam; Ahmad Shahizan bin Abdul Samad, High Commissioner of Malaysia; Sukho Piromnam, Ambassador of Thailand; Nguyen Quang Thuck, Ambassador of Veitbnam; Yuyun Kamhayun, Acting Ambassador of Indonesia; Ibnu Prispermana, Counsellor Indonesian Embassy. They said they would open their markets for export of the furniture and provide certain facilities to promote this heritage industry of Chiniot. Earlier, Acting Tehsil Nazim Dr Shahid Hamid said Chiniot had 5,000 cultural heritages. Later, Small Scale Furniture Association President Malik Khalil led the delegation to visit furniture carving units.
