Capital City Police Officer, Additional IG Malik Muhammad Iqbal has directed police officers to launch a crackdown against the elements involved in illegal possession or display of firearms as well as proclaimed offenders to ensure a peaceful atmosphere and prevention of violence during the forthcoming general elections.
All divisional SPs should personally supervise this campaign and submit report to him on daily basis, he added. In a circular issued here on Monday, addressed to DIG Investigation, SSP Operations and Investigation, all divisional SPs, supervisory police officers, SHOs and Incharge investigations, the CCPO has directed them to pay surprise visit to arms dealers in their respective areas and verify their stock. Particulars of people dealing in illegal arms should also be collected and stringent action should be taken against such elements, he added.
