Pakistan cricket team skipper Shoaib Malik on Tuesday denied media reports, claiming he married an Indian girl named Ayesha Khan, saying he would take legal action against those defaming him.
He told a news conference at the home of Pakistani speed merchant Mohammad Asif in Defence that his brother-in-law, Imran Zafar, was proceeding to India to file a defamation suit against those, who defamed him through baseless allegation on Indian media.
Giving details, Imran Zafar said that Shoaib had never met Ayesha Khan rather the latter was engaged in the affair through Internet. He said in yearly 2001, when Shoaib was in initial days of his cricketing career, he had an affair on Internet.
The girl, who introduced her as Ayesha Khan, had sent pictures of another girl through Internet, which lured him into a trap, resulting in promise of marriage with her, he added. However, when the situation became clear in 2005, Shoaib abandoned the affair, Zafar said.
Zafar said the possibility of scandalising the issue in the wake of Indian Premier League (IPL) could not be ruled out, and added that he had visited India to see the girl, but the family always avoided on the one pretext or the other.
He said the girl, who was presented as Ayesha Khan, was residing in Saudi Arabia and, perhaps, was already married. He said Shoaib was trapped in the matter and he never married Ayesha Khan.
