More than 2000 political activists, PPP workers, lawyers, traders, and members of civil society on Thursday attended the "Chehlum" ceremony of Benazir Bhutto held in Shahi-Eidgah Multan.
PPP leaders including Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Vice Chairman of PPP, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, PPP Punjab President, Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Awan, former Law Minister vowed to continue their struggle for restoration of democracy.
"We would follow the mission of our leader Benazir Bhutto who laid down her life for this sacred mission," many workers were witnessed crying and praying amid sobs and tears. They said, 'We take a solemn pledge that we would complete the mission of Benazir".
Special security arrangements were made and rangers and paramilitary force were called out for maintaining peace and tranquillity. Chehlum ceremony was also observed in Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahimyarkhan, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Vehari, Khanewal, Mian Chunnu etc.
