The Inspector General Punjab, Ahmad Nasim has constituted a six-member special committee comprising the senior police officer of the department to formulate the recommendations for utilisation of modern technological resources to curb the incidents of suicidal attacks and terrorism in the province.
IG took the decision during the briefing of the devices for detecting the explosive material at police lines Lahore here on Thursday. Additional IG training Fayyaz Ahmad Mir, CCPO Lahore Additional IG Malik Muhammad Iqbal, Additional IG finance Aftab Sultan, DCO Mian Muhammad Ijaz, DIG Training Abid Qadri, DIG investigation Chaudhry Tasadaq Hussain, SSP Lahore Aftab Ahmad Cheema, Senior officers of CID, Special Brach Police and civil defence department were also present on the occasion.
The committee is headed by DIG Training Muhammad Abid Qadri and its members, include AIG logistic Tahir Rai, SSP Special Branch Shahzae Aslam Siddiqi, SSP CID Javed Islam , SP Investigation Zaeem Iqbal an officer firm Rawalpindi police. The demonstration of modern devices for the detection of explosive material was displayed by the manufacturers /experts of a foreign firm.
Earlier, they also presented an elaborated briefing about the functioning/operational methodology of the modern equipment/devices which will help detect the explosive material from the possession of a person or planted at some where for the sake of prior prevention of terrorist activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Inspector General Punjab said that a comprehensive strategy was being evolved to cope with the threats of terrorism, suicide attack on scientific lines by utilising the resources of modern technology.
He directed the members of the committee to submit the study report within a week keeping in view the present circumstances. The IF also directed the Additional IG training to overall supervise the matters pertaining to the preparation of the feasibility report by the special committee so that a fool proof system could be chalked out for foiling the nefarious designs of miscreants effectively.
