Three major fire incidents were occurred in the city on Thursday, however, no casualties were reported. A fire broke out at around 10 am in a chemical factory, Nova Tech Chemical, located at Manzil Pump, Landhi. The inferno broke out in a chemical's drum but it was so intensive that it engulfed the entire factory within no time.
An official in fire-brigade department told Business Recorder that the department had dispatched two snorkels and 10 fire tenders to carry out fire fighting operation.
He said that the fire-fighters could only managed to control the blaze after a four-hour long hectic struggle. He said the fire turned about 90 percent materials of the factory into ashes. The factory owner, Bashir, said the fire broke out, when combustible chemical in a drum fell on ground while being dumped to another place.
The second fire broke out in a multi-storey textile factory, International Garment factory, near Veta Roundabout in Korangi Industrial Area at 11:30 am. The factory owner, Adnan said that the fire broke out on first floor of the factory where textile fabrics were being manufactured.
He said that the fire had reduced a huge quantity of cloths worth millions of rupees to ashes. As many as eight fire tenders and a snorkel took part in the fire fighting operation in the factory that took more than two hours to be extinguished. The third fire erupted in a towel factory located in Hussain Compound near Ghani Roundabout in SITE area around 6:30 pm.
The fire completely gutted one of the five towel factories located in the compound Four fire tenders of fire brigade department were taking part in the operation to extinguish the fire till our going to press. The cause of fire could not be ascertained.
