Education Minister Professor Dr Mira Phailbus has said that cordial relations between Japan and Pakistan are based on mutual understanding and co-operation in social and commerce sector. The exchange in creative and artistic arena will further increase the existing ties between two countries.
These views were expressed by her while addressing the inaugural ceremony of exhibition of Japanese Calendars held under the aegis of Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association of Lahore with the collaboration of MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan and Lahore Arts Council, here on Thursday.
Director Press Information and Culture Department of Japan Embassy, Yo Fukazawa also spoke on the occasion. Dr Mira Phailbus said that artists and intellectuals are pride of every nation. Such exchanges in the sphere of creativity play a vital role towards enhancing and projecting the image of an enlightened society. She said that this exhibition has become a known cultural event in Lahore City, which rightly deserves to be the "cultural capital of South Asia".
Education minister said that this exhibition will offer an opportunity to the art lovers in Pakistan to enjoy a visual pleasure that these artists present. She further stated that Pakistani art lovers and students will earn a great deal from this experience and enhance their creativity potential. She further stated that it is encouraging that most of the calendars are printed on a paper, which has been produced through non-tree sources like sugarcane or recycled paper. This is inline with Japan's firm commitment to preserve the environment.
Addressing on the occasion, Yo Fukazawa said that Japanese Calendar Exhibition is an annual event becoming quite popular year by year among the citizens of Lahore. This year 111 calendars are being put on display in the exhibition. Each calendar is a piece of art for which the producing companies have tried their best to attract viewers through different subjects and mediums.
