The government should stay away from the Basant festival and allow observance of this festival of joy and happiness in Lahore on February 23 & 24, said prominent social figure Yousaf Sallauddin. Talking to Business Recorder, Yousaf said that Basant is a public festival, hence, the government should not indulge in this festival.
He said Basant is the festival of sunlight but efforts are being made to convert it in the festival of night. He added that all the stakeholders agree to the regulations framed for the observance of this festival, hence, it should be allowed on February 23 & 24.
