NWFP plans reorganisation of tobacco cess collection

The government of NWFP has planned reorganisation of the procedure of tobacco cess collection to facilitate tobacco industry and minimise their problems in this regard. Under the plan the cess would be levied on only one specific grade of tobacco to resolve the complaints of tobacco and cigarette companies about dual taxes on permanent basis.
The matter was discussed in a meeting regarding improvement of Tobacco Development Cess and mitigating problems and complaints of the tobacco companies about dual taxes on the cess held here on Monday. The meeting was attended by Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries and other officials.
