Medical experts at a workshop highlighted the importance of mother and child welfare and childcare besides promotion of better understanding of the responsibilities that accrue with motherhood. The three-day event was organised by Intermedia, which was attended by selected journalists form Sindh and Balochistan provinces.
The doctors, who conducted the workshop for the journalists included Dr Nighat Shah, Dr Zaimul Haq, Professor Dr Mohammad Rashid Zaka from Islamabad, project director MNH Programme Dr Sahib Jan and the Medical superintendent of the Sobhraj Hospital Karachi Dr Anwer Khwaja.
The health experts in their papers and lectures highlighted the various measures needed for mother and childcare. They said that the mother needed prime attention during the period of pregnancy and after childbirth both newborn and the mother needed good care and attention.
