As many as 500 applications received from International Election Observers (IEOs) have been processed so far, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Muhammad Sadiq, told Business Recorder here on Monday.
Elaborating further he said the largest contingent is from EU (137 members from EU including 10 members of the European Parliament), and the second largest would be from the US (35 members from Democracy International, 5 from US Congress and 8 from the US State Department).
In addition, IEOs are also coming to Pakistan from Japan, Austria, Norway, Switzerland and the OIC. Officials of foreign missions in Pakistan are also allowed to observe the elections, and accreditation passes will be issued to those who have applied. In addition, more than 500 journalists and media personnel would also be arriving in Pakistan to monitor the elections.
