The rupee did not fluctuate sharply against dollar in the interbank market on Tuesday for buying and selling at 62.91 and 62.94, while it was lower by 10 paisa both for buying and selling, dealers said.
The rupee was not able to look ahead as importers continued buying of dollars to meet the payment requirements, they said. In the overseas market, euro slipped in the second session, struggling as traders speculated whether slower European growth will warrant a European Central Bank interest rate cut in the coming months, even as inflationary pressures continue.
Trading activity slowed in the afternoon as market participants awaited data on German investor sentiment due later in the day to get a better sense of the health of the European economy.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee continued its weakness against dollar, slipping 10 paisa for buying and selling at 63.10 and 63.20, they said. The rupee picked up 20 paisa in terms of the euro for buying and selling at Rs 91.30 and Rs 91.40, they said.
