Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has said he will not respond to a notice sent to him by the Pakistan cricket board over his recent statements criticising its policies.
The PCB has asked Akhtar to respond within a week or face disciplinary action for recent statements in which he accused the board of double standards and adopting a dual policy while awarding new central contracts. Akhtar, one of the most senior players in the Pakistan team, has been dropped from the contracts list with the board saying it was not satisfied with his match fitness.
"I am not under contract to the board so they can't ask me about my statements. I am not going to respond to any of their notices," Akhtar told reporters on Wednesday. "They can send me as much paper as they like but I am not bound to respond to them," he added.
