Sindh Chief Minister former justice Abdul Qadir Halepota has directed the officials to take all possible steps to ensure holding of peaceful, free, fair and transparent elections. He said this after distributing prizes to the winners of Sindh Games, the CM presiding over a meeting at the Circuit House here on Saturday.
He warned that strict disciplinary action will be taken if any official was found showing partiality in the process. Furthermore, he ordered the administration to strictly follow the directives of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and ensure implementation of the code of ethics of the Election Commission.
The CM made it clear that the provincial government and the administration have to maintain balance, impartiality and zero-tilt at any cost during the elections.
DCO Sukkur Khuwaja Shafique Ahmed informed that as per directives of the governor, all government officials, except those assigned to election duty, would remain available at their respective headquarters till the polling process is over.
It was, however, clarified that all the concerned officials may go to their areas in their personal capacity for casting vote. The meeting was informed that the Nazims in the province had also been asked to restrict their activities to ensure fair and transparent elections.
The DCO apprised about the measures taken by the provincial government for holding free and fair polls and said that for this purpose the administration had maintained contacts with candidates and other concerned people for observing the code of ethics.
