Adam Pretty began his career at the Sydney Morning Herald in 1997 as a news photographer. His desire to specialize in sport saw him move to Getty Images in 1998. While with Getty, he has worked out of Los Angeles, Sydney and Beijing, and is now located in Tokyo.

Pretty has photographed five Olympic Games, and covered assignments around the globe for magazines including Sports IllustratedLifeTimeMarie Claire and Harper's Bazaar. Pretty has won a number of major international awards, and was a member of the 2010 World Press Photo Contest jury in Amsterdam. In 2007, in the quest for a new challenge, Pretty made the decision to shift from sports photography to advertising.
