Balochistan government has devised a comprehensive security plan for government installations including grid stations, telephone exchanges, boosters and towers across the province, besides tight security arrangements have also been made to ensure peaceful holding of general elections on February 18 in the province, official sources in the Home department told APP here on Sunday.
They said a total of 58,570 personnel of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) including 28,000 policemen, 22,000, Frontier Corps personnel, 35,00 Federal Levies Force, 5070 personnel of Army have been deployed to ensure fair, free, transparent elections in a conducive and peaceful environment across the province.
The Provincial Home Department has declared 1,350 polling stations as highly sensitive while 1150 polling stations as sensitive out of 3457 polling stations in the province, they added. They said that extra-ordinary security measures have been made keeping in view the tribal set up and problems of all 30 districts of the province.
They further unfolded the security plan for election and said sufficient number of law enforcers have been deployed at highly sensitive and sensitive polling stations. 20 personnel of LEAs 10 each of police and FC will be deployed at highly sensitive and sensitive polling stations.
They unveiled the security measures planned for the polls-day and post-elections day. On the election-day security, LEAs will ensure smooth electioneering process while the law enforcers will maintain law and order in post-elections days security if losing parties react over their defeats in the elections.
They said: "Army personnel will stay in the districts and tehsils headquarters and they will aid to the civil administration if the needs of their services are required."
The government will provide secured environment to polling staff and ensure security of polling materials and warned that no one will be allowed to create law and order situation. If anyone tries to disarray the order then the government will take strict action against him in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the provincial health department sources told this news agency that all doctors and paramedic staff have been directed to remain present in their respective hospitals in all districts of the province. While the ambulances and fire-brigades services will remain alert under the security plan for elections-day.
