The Caretaker Chief Minister (CM), Balochistan, Sardar Saleh Muhammad Bhotani has said that 45 APDM activists arrested during a rally would be freed as negotiations are underway. Speaking to media men on Sunday, the CM said that stringent security measures have been evolved to ensure free, fair, transparent and peaceful general elections.
He said describing security situation worst in the province would be an injustice as Balochistan is 44pc of the country area wise and population is also scattered.
Bhutani said that security in Quetta and other parts of the province was quite under control has further normalised due to arrest of 45 activists of APDM no one was injured and added that the APDM have assured to maintain peace in the province and in Quetta.
Further, the CM stated boycott is a democratic mean but others must not be stopped from casting their votes, as it is the prime responsibility of every citizen and assured all available facilities to the poling staff.
Further he clarified that Police had disrupted an anti-elections rally of the APDM arrested 25 protesters when enraged demonstrators set a police picket and two motorcycles ablaze and damaged banks at Jinnah road and the Kandahri bazaar. Subsequently, Police fired teargas shells and baton-charged the protesters that injured six people who were taken to hospital and were discharged after treatment.
