The supporters of Sherazi Group and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on Monday clashed with each other at Punho Chang near here on Monday. Major Atif of Rangers reached the scene and took the situation under control.
The reports were also received that LEA personnel resorted to baton charge at polling station Akhund Bradaria School as two groups clashed there. The incident of firing at polling station Taj Muhammad Abbasi was also reported.
The security arrangements at some polling stations remained unsatisfactory as reports of snatching ballot papers were reported from some polling stations due to which the polling process started very late.
The polling staff told that they were not provided with any food and even drinking water at the polling stations. Some women voters of UC Gujjo complained that UC Nazim was harassing voters to cast vote in favour of Sherazis. Former MPA and PPP candidate Sassi Palijo told they had forwarded the complaint to the District Returning Officer.
Some persons carrying batons were seen at some polling stations, without any official permission or authority. The presiding officers told that administration had handed over these baton-yielding force to them to help maintaining security.
It was reported that ballot boxes at village Qazi Ahsan were snatched from the polling staff. The polling at women polling station at village Rawat could not be started due to absence of polling agents of Sherazi group and the complaint was forwarded to the DRO. Later, polling was started three hours late. The queues of voters were seen at polling stations in Gujjo, Ahmedabad, Punhoo Chang and other areas.
