In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed confidence that a strong and stable Pakistan is imperative to bring a just solution to the Kashmir dispute.
The APHC leaders, in a high level meeting held in Srinagar today, took stock of the on going efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue in the backdrop of today's general elections in Pakistan, KMS reported. They unanimously viewed that the elections would augur well not only for Pakistan but also for the people of Kashmir.
Maulana Abbas Ansari presided over the meeting that was attended by Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Bilal Ghani Lone, Shaikh Abdul Aziz, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi and Fazl Haq Qureshi. The APHC leaders decided to speed up mass contact campaign to mount further pressure on India for resolving the Kashmir conflict, once and for all.
Meanwhile, in Handwara, thousands of people broke the siege of Indian troops, took the streets to mark their protest against the stepped up acts of state terrorism.
Dozens of demonstrators including women were injured, when the troops used brute force to disperse them. Indian Police personnel misbehaved with several women at Thanamandi in Rajouri, when they barged into to their houses during a siege and search operation.
