Voters and polling staff faced tremendous difficulties in finding names of the eligible voters in the new electoral lists at various polling stations in NA-2 and NA-4. A large number of voters were seen arguing with polling staff at Government High School Nothia Payan about names of the voters missing in the electoral rolls.
Zulfaqar Khan, Polling Officer, told APP that most voters had been registered with one number in the old electoral list while they are again registered with new numbers in the fresh lists prepared by the Election Commission. "It is very difficult for us to find these changed number votes in the voter lists", he said.
A voter at a polling station said: "I travelled all the way from Islamabad to Peshawar to cast my vote but now I have been told that my name is not there in the voters list."
"If my name is not in the list then, tell me soon, that I could go home as I am unwell," said a woman finally to the polling staff in a closed women polling station. An Assistant Presiding Officer said that there were total 1982 registered voters at polling station Nauthia Payan of NA-2 constituency and PF-4 and it was a very difficult job to find names in the voter lists.
