The Caretaker Chief Minister (CM), Punjab, former Justice, Ejaz Nizar has extended felicitation to all those who emerged successful in the general elections 2008 and expressed satisfaction over free, fair and transparent polls held on February 18.
The caretaker government of Punjab has fulfilled its promise to hold free, fair and impartial elections, he said on Tuesday and appreciated the co-operation received by the entire administrative machinery in this regarding.
In a statement, the CM noted with satisfaction that polling was largely peaceful in the province and the people used their right to cast vote in a free atmosphere. He, however, cautioned the revellers and their supporters celebrating their success not to harm the sentiments of their rivals asked to avoid any law and order problem.
He said all the machinery in the province had been directed to show complete impartiality and they co-operated and abided by these instructions. He also thanked the police personnel and other law enforcing agencies for performing right duty in holding of fair polls.
"We have proved the ability to strengthen the democratic process and to hold free and fair elections", he stated praying for political stability and stronger democracy in the country.
