The Punjab University will hold a three-day National Chemistry Conference on "role of chemistry in the development of health, industry and environment" for the solutions of industrial, agricultural and environmental issues of Pakistan from February 25 to 27.
Over 250 scientists, chemists and researchers will attend the conference and over 400 research papers will be read in the conference. The conference is being organised by the Chemical Society of Pakistan in connection with the 125-year celebrations of the establishment of Punjab University.
The inaugural ceremony will be held at the university's Institute of Chemistry on February 25, says a spokesman said on Tuesday. Governor Khalid Maqbool will be the chief guest of the ceremony to be attended by chemists, scientists and research scholars of national universities and industrial personalities of the country.
Institute of Chemistry Director and Chemical Society of Pakistan Treasurer Professor Dr Jamil Anwar Chaudhry has said that over 400 research papers will be presented on various issues of environmental chemistry, industrial chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, food and medicine, which will be helpful in solving industrial, agricultural and environmental problems.
He said that the conference would help in promoting national integrity besides playing an important role in national development because a large number of students and teachers from all four provinces will attend the conference and exchange their expertise and work with each others. He has especially thanked Higher Education Commission Chairman Professor Dr Atta-ur-Rehman and PU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran for their cooperation.
