President, Supreme Court Bar Association Aitezaz Ahsan here on Wednesday addressing a press conference referring to deposed judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan stated that two-third majority was not requisite for their reinstatement as only executive orders were sufficient for their release and restoration.
He demanded that all the judges be released and restored immediately. Ahsan dilating further on the subject of judges said if the deposed judges were restored, then the apex court would decide about the subsequent judges, adding Supreme Court could do so in the light of Al-Jihad Trust case.
He said the present judges were not entitled to deliver the verdict in favour of President Pervez Musharraf as the judges related with this verdict were the beneficiaries of this decision and thus they could not pass judgement on the case of President Musharrafs' he maintained.
He posed question' how can the apex court entitle someone to introduce amendment in the Constitution, when the apex court in itself is devoid of amending the Constitution,' he observed.
Aitezaz Ahsan demanded President Musharraf to quit his office. Referring to stance of PPPP regarding judges late Benazir Bhutto declared in front of the whole world that Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry remained the actual chief justice of Pakistan and PPP cannot back down on this.
Aitezaz Ahsan said he would soon go to Islamabad to work for the restoration of the judiciary. He said PPP stance regarding independence of judiciary was very clear cut, adding, if the judges were free to act, then resultantly, judiciary would be independent. He said he would go somewhere to relax for two to three months after his task of freedom of judiciary was accomplished.
Commenting on recent election results, he maintained that coalition governments would be formed, except in Sindh and anti-Musharraf forces would make alliance, he added.
