Former federal minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sherafgan has said that ostensibly, the new assembly will not function for a long period. Addressing the Chakwal Press Club telephonically from Mianwali on Tuesday, he predicted a quarrel over the election of prime minister as there is no party in the political arena which is in position of forming the government.
He said that every political party has its own agenda due to which, a dispute will create among the political parties. Dr Sherafgan said that massive rigging was committed in his constituency and 6433 votes were rejected out of which there was the stamp on Bicycle in over three thousand votes.
'The rival candidates have put the stamps on ballot papers by themselves with the manoeuvring of presiding officers' he lodged complain. He rejected the election results of his constituency and said that he has already informed the Election Commission about his reservations in this regard.
Expressing his grievances, he also pointed out that there was no homogeneity in the colours of ballot papers and size of stamps due to which the rigging kept going on very easily.
According to him, he is apprising the ECP about these events. Responding to a question, he described reinstatement of the deposed judges as impossible as per the constitution and said that there are clear differences between the Pakistan People's Party and PML(N). He said that an important meeting of the PML(Q) will be held on February 23 and if the rival candidates joined the PML(Q) then, they would finalise their political strategy in future.
