Caretaker Federal Information Technology (IT) Minister Abdullah Riar on Thursday said his ministry would send a summary soon to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to eliminate sales tax on computer products from the next budget.
The minister expressed these views here at a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Computer Association. He also said that Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro had also agreed for the removal of GST from computer products.
Commenting on election process, the minister said the election fully proved the impartiality of the caretaker government. "We all thank Allah Almighty for His blessings in helping to successfully complete the national obligation of holding historic elections in most challenging times. The people of Pakistan have proved to the world that we are a responsible Nation, determined to protect our sovereignty and solidarity," he said.
Abdullah Riar thanked the foreign and local media as well as observers for playing a positive role in ensuring the transparency as well as credibility of the elections. He also lauded the role of his fellow caretaker ministers especially of Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro for putting in 'maximum effort' in holding a free and fair election.
He also appreciated the law enforcement agencies, the Election Commission and concerned authorities for providing effective security to ensure that the elections are held in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner.
Pakistan Computer Association President Munawar Iqbal congratulated the federal minister on holding free, fair and transparent elections in the country. He said all political parties accepted the results of elections and the national and international observer and local media also appreciated the efforts of the caretaker government in this regard.
Munawar Iqbal emphasized that in order to achieve the benefits of elections, peace and tranquillity must prevail in every part of the country. The nation must remain united to defeat elements that desired to disrupt peace and deny a better and prosperous future to the people of Pakistan.
