A seminar on the principle of self-determination and the future status of Kashmir held here on Wednesday asserted that the solution to the disputed issue lay with the people of Kashmir.
Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Diplomatic Committee at the House of Lords, the speakers called for making the Kashmiris leadership on the both sides of Line of Control a party to the peace process between Pakistan and India.
In a resolution adapted on the occasion, it was unanimously agreed that the true representation of Kashmiri people is necessary in the Indo-Pak dialogue for the permanent and honourable solution to the Kashmir issue. It is the people of Kashmir who must decide their future, the speakers emphasised.
Arranged as a part of 'Shaheed Maqbool Butt Week', the seminar was participated by delegates from UK based community organisations, British peers and intellectuals who expressed deep concerns over the human right violations in held Kashmir and other atrocities.
