Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, representing the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, has continued his victory run in style when he emerged victorious from Jhang's NA-88 constituency during the 2008 elections.
PFF Secretary General Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi said on Thursday that all was set to witness a tough fight between two bigwigs and arch rivals - Faisal Saleh Hayat and Begum Abida Hussain of Pakistan Peoples Party(PPP) - in NA-88 and Faisal came out with flying colours, beating her with handsome margin. It was Faisal's fourth triumph over Abida after success in 1990, 1993 and 2002, he added.
Faisal had earned victory in elections six times in all, which speaks of his quality. Earlier, he won the elections in 1977 and 1988 from NA-88, the constituency, lies on the western bank of river Chenab, stretching between Langar Makhdoom in the north and the Trimmu Headworks in the south over an area of 130 kilometres in length.
Last portfolio, Faisal held was that of the Federal Minister for Environment, and was previously the Federal Minister for Interior with the additional charge of Narcotics Control, followed by Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas.
Lodhi said his victory was also a victory of football followers in Pakistan and there was a battery of congratulations from players, referees, coaches, organisers of football from every nook and corner of Pakistan.
His work for PFF since 2003 is brilliant and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) appreciated and recognised his work for Pakistan football and appointed him AFC Disciplinary Committee member.
Moreover, Garhi Shahu United Football Academy (GSUFA) President Sheikh Naseer, Chief Executive Siddiq Qadri, Manager Furqanullah have congratulated Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, following success in the elections.
After his success, Faisal said: "I owe my success to Jhang's people and football circles, innocent players of soccer academies throughout the country who loved me so and prayed for my success. I will always remain grateful to them."
