The general elections are over and now it is the post-polls peace which is needed most and must be maintained and ensured at all costs in the larger interests of the nation and the country.
Leaders of the contesting political and religious parties should ask their candidates and workers to accept the results with open mind and without heart burnings whatsoever. The country can ill afford any further crisis like situation after the polls.
The winners and losers in the election both should demonstrate sobriety, tolerance and large heartedness towards each other. It was a political game in which one is to be the winner and others are the losers. If at all their intention is to work for the welfare and wellbeing of the people at large in their respective constituencies, which it should be over and above the party affiliations in the post polls scenario, they should better join hands.
The winners would be well-advised to seek workable proposals from the losers and vice-versa. All this democratic, healthy relationship would surely augur well for the people, democracy and democratic institutions which need to be strengthened and consolidated.
They may or may not felicitate President Pervez Musharraf for honouring his yet another commitment of holding of the election, but they must keep the interests of the people, nation and country above everything else. If they are serving the people well, indeed they will be rendering great services to Pakistan, which must and should be everyone's topmost priority for all times to come.
